As I write this post, I chuckled because I am sitting at the very exact spot where I first met Alyzza and David. We met at the Compass Coffee shop in Washington DC. As soon as they walked through the door, it was like dream client at first sight. (Corny eh? Lol yeah yeah I know! Just go with it!) You see, it was as if I already knew them and have fallen so in love with their love for one another. In their initial email, they describe in details how the met, their story, and shared their proposal video in which you can view right here. I was smitten by their genuine love and admiration for one another, and I just had a feeling that documenting their love will come so easy. We laughed and chit chatted for what seem like hours as if we were long lost friends. When I asked, “What is your love story?” Alyzza and David replied, “It’s spiritual. It’s a struggle that led to progress. It’s a promise to fight for joy. It’s a commitment to seek laughter and adventure in every journey. It’s a bold celebration of how dope it is to be Black. It’s a love and respect for our culture. It’s a passion for service, and what love looks like in public: justice. It’s an acceptance that we will at times fail, but a vow to always try again. A Love Supreme. An Acknowledgement. A Resolution. A Pursuance. A Psalm. It’s us.”
Did you do the same thing I did? Mouth. Dropped. Open. These two are so dope I can’t stand it!
Meet the dopest couple ever…….. Alyzza + David!!!!
We started their session at The Kennedy Center. They have been to quite a few events here. This was also where they first introduced their parents to each other.
They’re just the cutest!
This is one of my favorite picture of them! (Inserts heart eye emojis here)
Pope of Pope Weddings filmed their engagement video at the Howard Theater and they explained why they chose this particular location to say their I dos. You can view it here! It’s BEAUTIFUL yall! If you are looking for a cinematographer, Pope is simply amazing!
An Iris Mannings Photography couple are bold, vibrant, stylish but most importantly joyful!
For their second look, we did a quick stop at the Enid A Haupt Garden.
Alyzza, you are so gorgeous girl!
Our last stop was at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. We were running out of daylight and quickly ran to get these very last few shots. It was sooo worth it. Love their shirts from HGC Apparel.
I can’t wait until their Memorial Day weekend wedding this year! I hope you enjoyed this post.
