Meet the sweetest couple ever……… Imani + Jarred
How did you first meet?
It was the summer semester of 2012 through mutual friends that I and Jarred met. My friend brought me to Jarred’s friend’s dorm room where him and a bunch of people where hanging out. Within ten minutes of me being there, Jarred said something crazy to get on my nerves. We had a little verbal sparring, and as fate would have it we just clicked and have been together ever since.
How did Jarred propose to you?
Jarred proposed on November 10th, 2014, while visiting his cousins during Veterans Day weekend. It was our last night in town, so we decided to do a fancy dinner in the city. As we were leaving his cousin’s house his cousin was persistent in taking pictures. I was getting hungry and had little to no patience. His cousin kept saying “Just one more!” and I kept saying “I’m hungry, holy crap, lets leave!” Finally, his cousin says to us okay one last time, and MAKE IT SPECIAL! That’s when Jarred got down on one knee and pulled a vase over from a nearby table. My ring was sitting in the flower. Jarred said some stuff that I couldn’t even begin to remember, but it was really sweet. He proceeds to take my grandmom’s ring off (which was on my ring finger and was to stay there until I got engaged), and places my engagement ring on my finger. It was a complete surprise and it still shocks me to this day.
Describe your relationship?
Just like any couple, we are opposites on a lot of things. I like the cold weather and he likes to be hot. He is very laid back, and I’m really type A. He’s great with people, and let’s just say there is a reason I work in a laboratory (translation: I like people, but I really wouldn’t want to deal with them as a job). I’m a New Yorker and he is a Southern boy through and through. However, we love to talk politics. We are very close to our families, and occasional homebodies. I keep him grounded, while he dares me to dream big. Balance is the word for our relationship and it works!
What are you looking forward to most about your wedding?
I am looking for to the planning part to be over! Planning a wedding can be very STRESSFUL. However, I am very excited to recite our vows in front of everyone. I’m so excited to see our families and close friends all in the same room together and even more excited to officially start our lives TOGETHER!
Imani and Jarred, thank you for being so wonderful! If your wedding is anything like your engagement session, its going to be filled with so much love and laughter and I absolutely can’t wait to document that kind of moment!!
